What makes a Borrmann
Every donor car is different. Every Borrmann is unique.
But the process is defined by six disciplines — each with its own expertise, each held to the same standard.
The result is individual. The approach is not.
Engineering
The chassis is inspected, corrected and, where the original has fatigued, replaced with a re-engineered structure that keeps the factory geometry while resolving the flex and corrosion points the original was known for.
Bodywork
Every panel is checked against the jig by hand. Metal that can be saved is saved; the rest is re-formed on the wheel in our own shop, not replaced with reproduction stampings.
Powertrain
Engines are rebuilt to original tolerances or, where the brief asks for it, re-engineered for modern fuel and modern roads — always in keeping with the character of the car, never simply for a bigger number.
Paint
Coat after coat, hand-flatted between each, in a colour chosen with the owner in the atelier under daylight. The body cures before assembly resumes.
Trim
Leather is selected hide by hide. It is cut by one pair of hands and sewn by the same, so the stitching in the seat matches the stitching on the wheel.
Testing
Every car is driven on public roads before delivery, by the engineer who built it, and any refinement is made before the handover — not after.
Finished where nobody looks.
The underside is finished like the top side. The load bay is trimmed like the cabin. The brackets and fittings that no longer exist in any catalogue are machined in-house, because the alternative is a compromise that would show in ten years.
A price tag has a face. Several, in fact.
A Borrmann is not built by a factory. It is built by a small team who sign their own work — and remain your contact long after the car leaves the atelier.
The panel beater
Shapes every re-formed panel to the jig, by hand, before a single coat of paint.
The engine builder
Rebuilds and re-engineers every engine on the bench, and drives the car before you do.
The trimmer
Cuts and sews every hide in the car, from the wheel rim to the load bay.
